CJA 2014 Launch

Over fifty members of the Jewish Federation Lion of Judah (LOJ) group came together on September 16, 2014 at the home of Rena Shenkarow to celebrate the launch of this year’s Combined Jewish Appeal (CJA) campaign at the annual LOJ luncheon. Michelle (Shenkarow) Gilman highlighted the program, delivering a moving message about leaving legacies - about wisdom and other gifts we inherit and pass along to future generations. Michelle also shared passages from her recently published children’s book “What Grandma Built”, a beautiful tribute to her mother, Phyllis Shenkarow, z’’l, and the values that were passed down from her mother to the rest of her family.   There are a total of 85 Lions in the community, and five new Lions received their pins at the event. Lisa Kroft, Lion of Judah Chair, stated that the event was important because “…It is important that we Lions pass on our shared values and traditions onto our children and grandchildren…”.  Lions of Judah are women who have endowed their annual campaign gift at a certain minimum level.
