Deputy Consul General Irit Stopper visits Norway House

Following a visit to Camp Massad for JNF’s “Breakfast for Israel”, and a visit to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Community Relations/Local Partner Services organized a number of meetings and visits for Deputy Consul General Irit Stopper:

"At 7:00am on August 24th, we were invited to board a Perimeter Airlines flight to Norway House for a day-long visit at the invitation of the Chief and organized by Caterina Ferlaino and Robin Dowsett.  For the Deputy Consul, the view of agricultural lands north of Winnipeg, the remarkable expanse of Lake Winnipeg and the forested areas of the north were breathtaking. We were greeted by Chief Ron Evans who hosted us for the day.  The Deputy participated in a Council of Elders Meeting and was treated to a powerpoint of Norway House and its fishing lodge and well as a dynamic question and answer period. She reiterated to the Chief and Council that Norway House was a goldmine and discussed various ways to enhance the First Nations-Israel relationship. The tour of Norway House, the discussion of Israel-Norway House relations and suggestions for our mission to Israel were all part of the visit. And a very impressive visit it was!
