Government Relations

Through our partners at the Center for Jewish & Israel Affairs (CIJA), the Federation regularly publishes statements of interest to the Jewish community, such as statements from the Prime Minister, Leaders of the opposition, etc. During Parliamentary breaks, meetings are conducted by the Community Relations Committee (CRC) and Shelley Faintuch with most of the MP’s within a radius of 60 km to discuss issues of importance to the Jewish and general communities. In addition, a first meeting was held this year with newly elected mayor Brian Bowman to discuss the Jewish community of Winnipeg and potential projects with Israel. We anticipate follow up in the near future. Finally, CRC also meets with various members of the Provincial Caucus to discuss ongoing issues of concern such as Anti-Semitism, potential projects within the community and with Israel. We also liaise regularly with the Consul General of Israel and the Ambassador of Israel to Canada.
