G.R.O.W. in Gimli is a summer program for young adults with special needs that

provides an opportunity to learn skills for independent living. G.R.O.W. is targeted at

young adults between the ages of 18-24 with cognitive or developmental disabilities.

The program prepares the family for the transition to independent/cooperative living

and facilitates the natural growth of the individual. Each individual sets goals and

experiential learning takes place with a focus on making choices, healthy eating,

socialization and activities for daily living. The G.R.O.W. program was developed by the GROW Advisory Committee of the Persons with Disabilities Steering Committee of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg. The

modules for the program were developed in conjunction with the Department of

Occupational Therapy, University of Manitoba. The G.R.O.W. program is supported by

the Rose and Max Rady Jewish Community Centre, and The Jordan Lazareck Fund

at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
