Congregation Etz Chayim, formed in 2002 as a result of the amalgamation on of three synagogues, is the focal point of Jewish life in Winnipeg’s north end. Etz Chayim is an egalitarian Conservative congregation committed to prayer and spirituality, learning and tradition, and acts of loving kindness. Etz Chayim offers a friendly environment for individuals and families to express their Judaism through an array of social, cultural and educational programs, and provides a warm, supportive environment to celebrate their life-cycle events.
Adult B’nai Mitzvah Program: Study for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah or explore ancient melodies of prayer Torah and Haftorah.
Catering: Full service kosher catering department for all lifecycle events.
Etz Chayim Cemeteries:
•Bnay Abraham Cemetery: 4639 Main St
•Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery: 2605 McPhillips St
Rosh Pina Memorial Park: 2795 Main St

Junior Congregation: The place to be on Shabbat mornings where we engage our youth in the spirit of Shabbat through song, prayer, and discussion tailored to their level of understanding. Children discuss the Torah portion of the week or the holiday that is approaching in a lively and interactive way. All of this is followed by a tasty junior Kiddush and floor hockey. Congregation Etz Chayim also offers many other programs for youth throughout the year including our PJ Library Tot Shabbat program, our B’nai Mitzvah preparation program, teen-led Shabbatons, and much, much more.

Etz Chayim Mitzvah Minds: Students in Kindergarten to Grade 4 are invited to the Cantor and the exceptional trained staff, for this exciting ritual learning opportunity. We will explore Torah, T’fillah (prayer), song and Mitzvot. Students will also begin the adventure into the special language of ‘Torah Trope’ – the code for reading Torah in the ancient melodies.
Etz Chayim Women’s League: Committed to our synagogue through programming and events of special interest to the women of our congregation, both Judaic and general. Funds raised from our well-stocked and beautiful gift shop and our Golden Book project support various committees of the synagogue. We provide the Challah, juice and cookies for our Junior Congregation every Shabbat. Once a year, we sponsor a Women’s League Shabbat, which our members plan and participate in the entire morning service.
