Social Worker- Mental Health Services (Full-Time, Permanent)


Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager of Adult Services, this position is an integral part of the Mental Health Services team in supporting the needs of Jewish clients living with chronic and persistent mental health differences. Services are provided to support clients toward their recovery goals and to promote independence in the community. Working within the Agency’s Mental Health Team and as part of a cross-programmatic framework, responsibilities include: assessment, case planning and case management, supportive counselling, advocacy, linkage to services and resources, maintaining excellent working relationships with team members and participating in team planning and problem solving, performing a variety of administrative functions as required by the department. May be requested to assist in delivery of groups and workshops, and student training.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or a Provincially authorized post-secondary program, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work considered an asset.
  • Degree in a related applied field (e.g. Occupational Therapy, Counselling, etc.) and experience may also be considered



  • Minimum three-five years’ experience preferred.



  • Social Workers must be registered with Manitoba College of Social Workers.
  • Other disciplines may be required to register or license with their respective governing bodies.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Must be organized and have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Willingness to adapt to new concepts, techniques, and best practices.
  • Understanding of social welfare systems.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to the professional standards such as the Canadian Association of Social Work (CASW) Code of Ethics and the Manitoba College of Social Workers Standards of Practice, and the like.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture is important and considered an asset.
