The 39 categories of forbidden activity on Shabbat seem arcane and highly restrictive, until we see the big picture of the power of refraining from altering the landscape of life as Nature has conceived of it. Shabbat observance has been the Jewish Earth Day for the past three thousand years. Isn’t it about time that the world (and we ourselves) caught on and caught up?
