Unto Every Person There Is A Name- Yom HaShoah Program

9:30AM - 11:45AM

To be confirmed

On April 28, 2022, here in Winnipeg and throughout the world, victims of Nazism will be remembered and their names read aloud by Holocaust survivors, family members of Holocaust victims and prominent and private citizens.

For the past 27 years, The League for Human Rights of B’nai Brith Midwest Region has presented this program in honour of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day at the Manitoba Legislative building.

During this program, the names of Holocaust victims that are inscribed on the monument at the Manitoba Legislature are read aloud. These names are of individuals and families who perished in the Holocaust and of survivors who came to Manitoba. These people, their children and grandchildren have contributed greatly to every facet of life in our community and province.

By personalizing the individual tragedy of Holocaust victims and survivors, this program seeks to defy the dangerous trends of indifference and ignorance that are ever present in the world at large. It also will restore some dignity to those who were stripped of their identities and robbed of their lives. As many names as possible will be read in the time available.
