In a supportive, non judgmental and non-competitive environment, student will have the opportunity to connect with their bodies, minds and spirits in this exciting new class. The practices will support increased self-awareness and self-compassion. Chesed, Loving-kindness, will provide the foundational attitude to practice. Each class will include gentle movement (yoga) and meditation linked to Jewish teachings and will end with a guided relaxation.
Adults of all ages including teens 16+ are welcome - all shapes, sizes and levels of ability. No experience necessary.
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in freely and bring a yoga mat, if you have one. The class will start promptly at 9:45. After the class we welcome you to attend the service, followed by Kaddish at 11:30 and Torah L'Chayim (Torah Study) at 12:45 PM.
Facilitator: Patricia Kovnats. Patricia loves teaching! She has been a certified yoga instructor for 17 years and also teaches MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). By day, Patricia works as a Mental Health Clinician. Her graduate work focused on using yoga and meditation as adjunct therapies in mental health service delivery. She is whole hearted in her belief in the value of these practices in promoting personal growth and healing. Patricia looks forward to sharing these practices with you in a Jewish context.
