New to Melton? Your journey starts here! The core curriculum is a commitment of 30 classes per year for two years. Graduates of all four curricula receive a Certificate of Jewish Studies from the Hebrew University. Open to all participants. No knowledge of Hebrew required.

Year One - Thursdays, 6:45 to 9:00 AM - 30 lessons (no class Nov 12, Dec 3)

6:45-7:45 PM The Rhythms of Jewish Living. Chazzan Anibal Mass, Facilitator - What's the point of living Jewishly? What ideas, belief and practices are involved? This course examines a wide variety of Jewish sources to discover the deeper meanings underlying Jewish holidays, lifecycle observances and Jewish practice.

8:00-9:00 PM The Purposes of Jewish Living. Dr. Ruth Ashrafi, Facilitator - Why do Jews believe as they do? What are the big questions of life and how do Jewish thinkers answer these questions? This course explores both ancient and modern responses to any of the major issues of Jewish thought and theology.
