This session will serve as an introduction to a Jewish spiritual practice known as Mussar. This is an ancient form of Jewish spirituality which focuses on the development of soul traits to attain personal and communal holiness. Mussar literally means instruction and discipline. It also implies turning oneself in a positive direction. This is the intentional cultivation of ethical/spiritual traits (middot) such as humility, patience, lovingkindness, honor, trust, and trustworthiness. By bringing greater awareness to these soul-traits we can bring our relationships and work into greater alignment with our innermost values.
