The Port of Last Resort presents the little-known story of nearly 20,000 European Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai in the years 1938 - 1941, seeking a safe haven from the Nazis. Included in this group was a member of Congregation Etz Chayim, Judith Lavitt and other members of her family. This lost world will be revealed on film through the stories of survivors and in-person as Judith will share her family’s story.
