The Annual “Y” Sports Dinner has become Winnipeg’s premier sports event and is the major fundraiser for the Rady JCC. For the past 40 years, the Sports dinner has brought some of the biggest names in sports to Winnipeg, featuring keynote speakers such as Scotty Bowman, Bobby Hull, Don Cherry, Mickey Mantle, Peyton Manning, Cal Ripken Jr. and Joe Montana. The upcoming Sports Dinner in 2013 promises to be another exciting event as it is headlined by Drew Brees as keynote speaker. The “Y” Sports Dinner provides the Rady JCC with the financial support to fund scholarships and programs for members of our diverse community that wouldn’t otherwise have access to these services. It provides over $200,000 in subsidies each year for families experiencing economically hard times, programs for children, youth and adults. During the Dinner, we also take time to celebrate young athletes and their accomplishments, recognize individuals for their community involvement and contributions, and honour community partners. With over 1200 people attending in 2012, this is one event not to be missed. Our sponsors are entertained at the VIP Reception where you get to meet and greet with our guest speaker, Mark Messier and other prominent members of the Winnipeg business and sports communities. Our live, silent and rainbow auctions feature impressive prize packages. Prizes range from big ticket items to multi-packages with trips, car leases, Super Bowl tickets, concert passes, laptops, furniture, electronics, numerous restaurants and retail gift certificates, and sports memorabilia.
